(Formally - Firrhill Welfare Committee)

What we do:

We have-

  • Raised funds and organized events for the benefit of the people who attend Firrhill Centre.
  • Underwritten the Firrhill Therapy Service which provides a range of alternative therapies at subsidized rates.
  • Organized events such as Open Days and the Xmas Party.

Future Plans:

We have also raised further funds to operate additional services. We are particularly interested in 'gaps' in services for people with physical disabilities.

Among those we have identified are:

  • A need for people with physical disabilities: advocacy. We know of many cases where people in vulnerable positions need someone to help them stand up for their rights.
  • The need for arts based projects (e.g. Music.) We know these can be a great help in developing confidence from a low starting point.
  • The healthy living agenda - Lifestyle choices in the areas of exercise and food can have a positive effect on peoples lives.

We are always looking for new ideas. Let us know if there is any area you think we need to develop.

Since the re-branding of our charity, we have raised around £15,000 towards projects of this type, and we plan to increase that in the coming years.
