Activities

Our purpose is to provide a range of rehabilitative, social and community focused activities for our diverse range of service users.
Our aim is to provide an individualised programme for each client, the format of this activity programme will usually be negotiated between the client and their key worker. Many of these activities are arranged on a one to one basis, while they are often community rather than centre based.

Our activities are wide and varied and are offered in a range of formats aimed at specific groups.
For example:
For people who have had a stroke
The Edinburgh community stroke service is a joint initiative between NHS Lothian and Edinburgh City Council. This service forms part of the "stroke pathway" where people who have been recently discharged from hospital can continue with "slow stream" rehabilitation for up to a year. Amoung the aims of this service is to improve independence, mobility, limb function and cognitive abilities etc.
People with profound and multiple disabilities
We offer a range of individualised programmes for this group. This provides a range of daily community based activities as well as a number of sensory based activities.
People with learning disability and dementia
The COPE (caring for older people in Edinburgh) service is for people who have a learning disability but also have some form of dementia. Each individual has a community based programme based on their interests and needs.
Local Groups
We have a number of local social groups who operate in local community centres. These provide a range of largely social activities for people with physical disabilities living in a specific local area.
